HAPPY NEW YEAR! IT’S 2024!!!
Time flies when you’re having fun they say, and O boy has the past 4 years flown by. With everything from receiving a scholarship to the world shutting down and opening back up to me moving to another country in pursuit of the ultimate goal. Life has never been better!
Things have definitely not gone the way that I would have wanted them to but that’s just how the cookie crumbles sometimes. I can now say that I am officially a dual sport athlete at the University of Arizona! I write this with anticipation as I head back for a busy training and competition schedule in both Handcycling and Wheelchair Tennis. This is another check mark on the almighty list of life accomplishments I must achieve or would like to try to achieve by the end of my days. Goals have been something that I have always set out for myself whether they be big or small. The very first goal I can remember was making the Pickering Red Sox AAA baseball team and that is where I learnt some of the most important lessons in life. The ability to be up in a game, fall flat on your face and then turn it around in the bottom of the 7th(9th) inning to pull out the “W” is a feeling like none other. This is exactly how life is and has been for me over the past several years. Despite all of the failures on the handcycle, with the project car and in some other aspects of my life, I am still thriving and hungry to succeed no matter what!
Some things that have helped me to continually improve and work on myself are books! Growing up I hated reading and felt I was slow. The truth is I needed glasses and was just lazy…lol Now I find that not only am I not that lazy but I like to take in information through audible and visual mediums. Since downloading the app Audible ( I am not paid by them but this is an endorsement lol ) I have crushed several audio books! These things are amazing and keep me intrigued whilst being able to accomplish other tasks at the same time. The first book I listened to was “How bad do you want it” by Matt Fitzgerald. The book that changed my life was “Can’t hurt me” by David Goggins. Ever since embarking on this journey, my perspective on so many things has grown and changed. My knowledge is vast, my empathy is overflowing, my love and respect for life and its simplicity yet many intricacies has grown immensely. Books are where it’s at, and trust me I never thought I would say that!
I will try to post more and keep these short but in the meantime, check out Anthony’s book list below! I took a picture when I wrote them out one day but there have been a couple more since. So here they are…and sorry for the messy paper but this is authenticity at it’s best!
