There is something to be said about social media! I love it and hate it. This is the main reason I haven’t posted on this website for so long, that and some technical difficulties but all is good now and we are continually moving forward.

The past year and a bit has been super super rough.  Cycling on the U of A team,  moving, school work and  accessibility work combined  with all of  the  flying back and forth for speaking engagements was a lot. It is the life I have always dreamed of (well sort of) but I didn’t anticipate the toll it would take. I think not knowing exactly where I stood in life was a major contributing factor to the feeling of being lost. So many amazing things have happened but still with no clear direction in front of me, it left me feeling lost. This is the  feeling I didn’t want to have when cycling was over. Cycling is by no means over but things have definitely changed. My experiences throughout the past several years have me wishing I chose another path but if I had done that I wouldn’t be in the place that I am in today. I am so grateful and thankful for everything that I have been through that has gotten me to this point.

As lost as I felt I knew exactly where I was going. When things weren’t working out I began to get frustrated and confused as to why even after all of the hard work things weren’t lining up. Then I just said to myself, “some things just aren’t meant to be.” Rediscovering who you are can be difficult especially if you are feeling a bit of that imposter syndrome. I don’t know why but I feel it. Being super blessed with amazing opportunities can have you questioning why these things are happening. When I took a step back and looked at the past 13 years of my life everything became clear. What I am feeling now is nowhere close to what I was feeling 10 years ago. The feelings of loss, frustration, anger, poverty etc no longer linger. With an unwavering belief in myself over the past couple of years I have set myself up for an absolutely unbelievably amazing future.

I am the principal consultant of my own business. I am on a full ride scholarship to the University of  Arizona for handcycling, studying Rehabilitation studies and services and now dabbling in other sports as well hoping to fulfill my lifelong dream of a dual sport athlete in a Division 1 University. I travel across borders to share my story and educate people on accessibility. I have built a one  of a kind race car! It is the 1st in the world with this specific setup that is controlled all by your hands! I’m getting married! I have beautiful friends and family who support me even when they don’t understand. I am exactly where I want to be and things are only getting better.

I share this because inevitably someone else is going through challenges or changes  or having some of the feelings that I have had. I think the key is consistently moving forward, even if it is one step a day. You need to take that step in order to not get stuck. Once you’re stuck it is that much harder to get moving again, so I am here to tell you to keep moving forward. “Tough times don’t last, Tough people do!”
